Kids Ice Cream Party Birthday

We had such a fun birthday party for our little one! She chose an ice cream party and we did it at home with an ice cream sundae bar, ice cream painting, and plenty of cute ice cream details!

We used mini canvas, easels, and water color paints and had the kids paint a mini ice cream cone. They could then add real sprinkles and we used clear glue and a paint brush to keep the sprinkles on the canvas.

After pizza we opened the ice cream sundae bar with a make your own sundae station and birthday cake. The sundae bar had multiple flavors of ice cream, different toppings, candy, gummy bears, and syrups, and more.

Instead of a bunch of small plastic favors that get tossed in the trash, I opted for a $5 gift card to our local ice cream shop, a cute ice cream pen, and a pack of fruit snacks. This came out to about $8 a girl. I would definitely spend over that sometimes on junk to fill a goodie bag!

Kentucky Derby Viewing Party Ideas / Mint Julep Mocktail Recipe / How to Make a Mint Julep / Kentucky Derby Kids Party 

The Kentucky Derby 2023 takes place on May 6th! If you’re throwing a Derby viewing party or just want to make the event festive for your own family, I’ve rounded up a mint julep mocktail recipe as well as the classic version to try at home. The mint julep is the official drink of the Kentucky Derby. This minty and refreshing drink is a staple for any Kentucky Derby viewing party. CLASSIC MINT JULEP RECIPE

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 to 5 sprigs of mint (leaves only)
  • 2 sugar cubes or 1/2 ounce simple syrup
  • 2 1/2 ounces of bourbon whiskey
  • Mint sprig, for garnish

DIRECTIONS:

Add mint leaves, sugar, and simple syrup into a julep cup (or glass if you don’t have one). Muddle the sugar to release the mint aroma. Add bourbon and fill the glass with ice. Stir well to chill the drink and frost the julep cup. Add mint for garnish.

KID-FRIENDLY MINT JULEP MOCKTAIL RECIPE

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 to 5 sprigs of mint (leaves only)
  • 1/2 cup of lemonade
  • Mint sprig, for garnish

DIRECTIONS:

Add mint leaves and lemonade. Fill the glass with ice. Stir well to chill the drink and frost the julep cup. Add mint for garnish.
