Go fishing in the loop & fry it up for a free dinner at South Water Kitchen!

For one month only, you can now go fishing in the Loop – then, either release your fish into the Chicago River or fry it up for a free dinner at South Water Kitchen! From August 17 through September 25, South Water Kitchen has teamed up with the Chicago Cultural Center to encourage Chicagoans to explore “the art of fishing” through their newest exhibit, Jim Zimpel: Angle. A fish lover’s utopia, this interactive installation is flooded with handmade, artistically-crafted fishing rods and bait buckets, as well as a 500 gallon fish tank composed of 100 blue gills.

Every Sunday at 2pm, five museum-goers will be selected to go fishing in the tank, then given the opportunity to release his or her catch-of-the-day into the Chicago River or have it fried up at South Water Kitchen by Executive Chef, Roger Waysok, a fishing enthusiast. Waysok will also whip up a side dish of microgreens that are actually grown in the exhibit’s tank**Patrons can vie for their chance to go urban fishing by either entering their name into the drawing at the exhibit or by emailing their contact information to jimzimpel@gmail.com with the following: ANGLE in the subject line, full name, telephone number and age. More information can be found at: http://www.jimzimpel.com.

The Jim Zimpel: Angle installation is part of a larger exhibit, Industry of the Ordinary: Sic Transit Gloria Mundi, at the Chicago Cultural Center that invites guests to seek the art out of everyday experiences.
