Purple Asparagus Hosts Cooking Class For Kids With Epicurious At Chicago Illuminating Company 5.5

WHAT:    Purple Asparagus, a Chicago non-profit organization that educates children about eating that’s good for the body and the planet, is excited to team up with Epicurious, offering the best recipes, cooking features and video how-tos online, for a hands-on cooking class for kids during Epicurious Entertains Chicago. This first-ever, one-of-a-kind event will be an exceptional weekend experience at one of the city’s most spectacular spaces, the Chicago Illuminating Company.

On Saturday, May 5, join Melissa Graham, Head Spear of Purple Asparagus and Let’s Move chef, and Epicurious editor-in-chief Tanya Steel (author of Real Food for Healthy Kids) for Cooking with Kids, a morning jam-packed with cooking classes devoted to kid-friendly fare. Kids will participate in healthy cooking demonstrations, learn how to plant their own herb and vegetable garden, decorate their own cookies, aprons and herb pots and enjoy lots of munchies, including a nutritious snack pack. All activities are designed to engage, educate and feed junior chefs (ages 2 to 12).

This event is BYOK—bring your own kid—and children eat and learn for free. Plus, the first 10 people to buy tickets will receive an autographed copy of Real Food for Healthy Kids.
