Although you might not recognize his name, if you’ve seen any Sam Adams commercial, you’ve seen his bearded face. Bob Cannon is master brewer at the Boston Beer Company and probably one of the most prominent beer icons in the country. On Tuesday, September 9th, Bob will bring some of his favorite Sam Adams products to Dunlay’s on the Square (address info below) to personally lead Chicagoans through a special beer garden dinner.

Beginning at 6 pm (and running to 9 pm), Bob will meet, mingle and walk beer lovers through four of Sam Adams best beers paired to a four-course seasonal menu prepared by 4-Star corporate chef Kevin Ives. Instead of your typical sit-down pairing dinner, Dunlay’s is transforming its spacious patio digs into a boisterous beer garden, intact with food and beer stations, high top tables, lanterns, drinkin’ music and more…

Dunlay’s on the Square is throwing a beer party for the ages on Friday, February 21^st. Beginning at 5:30 pm, beer-lovers are invited to an old school firkin beer tapping, where local brewery Two Brothers will break open an authentic firkin keg and pour uber fresh pints of a special Two Brothers French pressed coffee-infused Domaine DuPage – a Bière de Gardestylecountry ale. To accompany the beer, 4-Star Restaurant Group corporate chef Kevin Ives has imagined an inspired short rib burger garnished with bacon, fennel, celery root coleslaw, and stone ground mustard. Pints from the firkin alone will cost $7, short rib burgers $10, and a firkin pint and short rib burger combo for $15.

About Firkins:

A firkin is a unit of measure and also the size of a particular kind of keg used for cask conditioning; one quarter of a barrel, 72 pints, 9 imperial gallons. Firkins can be wooden or metal. The most curious thing about them is the manner in which they are tapped. In order to keep air out, the keg is laid on its side and the spout is driven in horizontally.

Stand Up For Kids

As football fans and foodies come together to celebrate Super Bowl 2014, a special group of activists will be standing up for homeless kids in Chicago. Dunlays on the Square (3137 W. Logan Blvd.) will be helping raise money and awareness for Stand Up For Kids of Chicago, a non-profit organization dedicated to end youth homelessness through national and local outreach. On February 2, 2014 beginning at 4:30pm, guests are invited to be a part of an incredible all-inclusive ‘football, food and philanthropy’ package in which a portion of sales goes to help homeless youth.
