CHICAGO CRAFT BEER WEEK EVENT MAY 23 FROM 7-9 P.M.

This no cover event features four beers from Chicago’s Revolution Brewing in lieu of the usual draft lineup, beer-friendly small plates from executive chef Chris Barron, beer education from SIP’s beer specialist Anna Krajnik and branded giveaways and raffles.

One lucky attendee wins a private tour of Revolution’s Kedzie Avenue brewery, which is located in the Kennedy Planned Manufacturing District at 3340 North Kedzie Avenue. The winner and up to nine guests will be treated to a private tour of the facility and one made-on-site Revolution beer each during the tour. SIP distributes raffle tickets with every Revolution beer purchased during the event and will hold the drawing at 9 p.m.

Expect food selections such as a beer-braised brat with caramelized onions and roasted apple mustard on an onion roll ($6); Prince Edward Island mussels with dry-cured Spanish chorizo, fennel, shallots, garlic and white wine ($12); and the SIP double burger, two four-ounce beef patties with Cheddar cheese, Knutson Farms green pepper jam, red onions, Kosher dill pickle, lettuce, classic mustard, an onion roll and seasoned hand-cut fries ($12)

Featured tap beers for the Friday, May 23 event, which range from $4-$8 each, include Cross of Gold Golden Ale, Crystal-Hero India Pale Ale, Coup D’Etat French-Style Saison and Bottom Up Wit. The Wit beer will be featured at SIP throughout Chicago Craft Beer Week (May 15-25) for $4.

Located on North Avenue Beach, Castaways will open to the public this Memorial Day weekend with live entertainment Saturday through Monday and will serve lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. (weather permitting). Menu items include fresh salads, wraps, sandwiches, and quesadillas accompanied by frozen cocktails and even Corona in a can (No bottles on the beach).

Private party space is available which can accommodate up to 400 people–perfect for corporate outings and special events. Castaways now offers Cabanas available for rent daily through Labor Day. The two cabanas are located on the North end of the Castaways upper deck with a capacity of 10 – 12 people (max) each. The cabanas are available for rent from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. ($1500 F&B minimum).

Chicago Craft Beer Week 312 & Lagunitas 5.20

The Italian loop mainstay, 312 Chicago, has teamed up with Lagunitas Brewing Company to host a special “patio a-beer-itivo hour”on Tuesday, May 20. A play on Aperitivo Hour, a traditional Italian dining ritual, 312 Chicago’s event feature salty finger foods prepared by Executive Chef Luca Corazzina as well as a Lagunitas rep doling out four samples of the craft beer, including: Pils, Censored, DayTime and Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’. The event will run from 5-7pm and is $15 per person. In addition, 312 Chicago will feature Lagunitas on draft for $4, the week of CCBW, 5/15-5/25. www.312chicago.com
