In this behind-the-scenes tour, guests will take a guided walk through both public and private spaces in our historic building, while also getting a chance to indulge in some of The Berghoff’s classic menu items.
Guests will learn about The Berghoff’s debut at the World’s Fair in 1893, receiving the first liquor license after Prohibition was repealed in 1933, and get a glimpse into our daily operations and food preparations. Guests will also get a comprehensive explanation into our rich buildings history and beautiful artwork.
**Please be aware that guests will be required to walk up and down several flights of stairs. Due to building restrictions there is no elevator available for assistance***
While learning about the Berghoff family history, you will enjoy three classic Berghoff food items (mini bratwurst, reuben, and apple strudel), your choice of one of our five beers to sample and, of course, our famous Berghoff root beer! Each tour will last between 60 – 90 minutes.

Attention all wing worshipers! Whip out the wet naps and head to Cactus Bar & Grill for a week-long “saucy” celebration, in honor of “National Chicken Wing Day” (July 29). From Monday, July 29 to Friday, August 2, Chef Glenn Pistorio will offer a different flavor of his delicious, award-winning wings for just $5 each day. The week will culminate with Cactus’ intensely hot, Death Valley “Insane” Wings on Friday, August 2 (signed waiver required before tasting). Chef Pistorio’s complete “Wing Week” line up is listed below. Wash down your wings with one of Cactus’ refreshing summer libations, including margaritas, sangria and “skinny” cocktails (Tropical Coco Crush; Jane Daly; Raspberry Lemonade – each under 100 calories).

Epic’s beverage director, Michael Cristiani, will lead an interactive, “Rum under the Sun” cocktail class on the River North restaurant’s stunning rooftop lounge. Starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, participants will learn how to mix and muddle three rum-based cocktails (The Mayan Horizon; Mai Tai; Mojito – listed below) while noshing on passed appetizers and enjoying breathtaking city views. Created by Chef Roger Waysok, each course will feature a spicy ingredient and a refreshingly chilled ingredient, paired together in an unexpected way. The five-course menu will consist of the following line-up:

  • 1st Course  : Watermelon Carpaccio with Habanera Vinaigrette
  • 2nd Course: Bourbon Braised Pork Belly with Peach BBQ Glaze
  • 3rd: Course: Ancho Seared Tuna with Pickled Jalapeño and Jicama Slaw
  • 4th Course : Grilled Beef Tenderloin with Barley Risotto
  • 5th Course : Ginger Flan with Honey Poached Pear
