Cantina Laredo in River North will offer a modern Mexican midday meal on Mother’s Day from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Chef Hector Rivera’s brunch dishes, outlined below, include Crab Cake Benedict; Chicken Fajita Omelet; Huevos Rancheros; French Toast served with Mexican brandy butter; Chilaquiles; Spinach & Artichoke Omelet; Asada y Huevos; and more. As an added bonus, all brunch entrees are served with a complimentary mimosa, bloody maria or non-alcoholic beverage. 

Cantina Laredo also offers an array of apertivos (top shelf guacamole; quesadillas; ceviche), ensaladas (fajita chicken; grilled shrimp), hand-rolled enchiladas (barbacoa; avocado), taqueria (pollo; pescado), especialidades (fajitas; chicken flautas; pescado del dia) and postres (Mexican Apple Pie; churros). Treat mom to a midday Mother’s Day meal fit for a queen. The Happ Inn, located in Northfield, will hold a Mother’s Day brunch buffet on Sunday, May 8 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Chef Freddy Sanchez’s menu features an unlimited array of appetizers, salads and desserts, along with the choice of entree (menu outlined below). Brunch cocktails will be offered, including $5 mimosas and $5 bloody marys.

The fee is $37.95 for adults and $14.95 for children (12 and under). The Happ Inn’s regular dinner menu will be served that evening from 3:30-9 p.m. Mother’s Day reservations may be made by calling 847-784-9200 or visiting TheHappInn.com.

The Chicago Firehouse will hold an all-day affair on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11. An elaborate brunch buffet will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by a dinner buffet from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The menu, created by Executive Chef Dean Zanella, is outlined below. Selections include an omelet station, breakfast dishes, pasta station, carving table, salads, entrees, seafood platters, sides, sweets and more. Mothers dining at The Chicago Firehouse will be treated to a complimentary flute of champagne.
